Labin

Labin is a town located on the east coast of Istria, about 40 km away from Pula and 63 km away from Rijeka. It developed at an altitude of 320 m above sea level, just 2 km away from the sea and 5 km away from Rabac. It was settled already during the mediaeval period and, owing to its favourable location and connections with other neighbouring towns (particularly Rabac), soon became a centre of tourism.

Old Labin is a typical Istrian town of the acropolis type whose walls have, through the years, been repurposed as residential buildings and palaces, thus also creating New Labin. The town core of Old Labin abounds in monumental heritage and Renaissance and Baroque patrician palaces whose architecture is bound to leave you breathless. Today, Old Labin is known as a city of artists, a place where you will feel the spirit of history in every street and on every town square. If you happen to find yourself in front of the loggia at the right time, you will be able to hear the locals’ stories about the misdeeds of the historical convicts of the Pillory. In spring, lovers of active holidays will be delighted with the cycling trails and parasailing offer. You can test your physical prowess in the diving school, or perhaps challenge your loved ones to a paintball match. In summer, cycle to the nearby beach and enjoy some sunbathing.
